NAIJA STORYBUILDERS BOOTCAMP
Facebook and Afrinolly introduce the Naija Storybuilders Bootcamp, a week-long intensive workshop for up and coming storytellers who are developing short-form content for digital platforms. Led by Dayna Lynne North and Amy Aniobi, writer/producers from the hit HBO series INSECURE, the program will run in Lagos for 20 select participants.
Selected participants will also receive further support to build on their projects after the Bootcamp with three-weeks of free office space and mentorship from Afrinolly’s team of screenwriters.
Topics covered during the workshop will include:
- Finding your voice as a short-form storyteller
- Creating compelling characters
- Grabbing and keeping your audience
- First steps in creating your project
- Best practices on how to create and promote content on Facebook and Instagram
Monday, 15 – Friday, 19 October 2018 (full day commitment required)
- Must have a script or piece of content that you are in the process of developing
- Must be based in Nigeria
- Must be 18 years or above
What to submit:
- 3-5 page script or one-page treatment as a writing sample
- A one-paragraph description of the project that you want to focus on during and after the workshop
- Your CV and/or Bio

Dayna Lynne North is a native of Kansas City, Missouri, and a cum laude graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts. She began her writing career on the critically acclaimed Lifetime drama Any Day Now. She was on staff for the first two seasons of the pop culture phenom, Veronica Mars, starring Kristen Bell. Dayna was Co-Executive Producer on the ABC-Family drama Lincoln Heights. She also wrote a holiday-themed biopic musical starring the pop group En Vogue entitled, “An En Vogue Christmas.” Dayna has television projects in development with actress/producer Kerry Washington, and actor/producer Laurence Fishbourne. She’s currently an Executive producer on the groundbreaking HBO series Insecure, co-created by and starring Issa Rae. In her free time, Dayna enjoys traveling, SCUBA diving, mentoring young women writers, chasing her Chihuahuas, finding ways to avoid cooking, and returning to her alma mater to teach screenwriting.
Amy Aniobi is a Co-Executive Producer on HBO’s groundbreaking comedy, “Insecure,” and has written on the show since season one. She also served as head writer/EP for HBO’s “2 Dope Queens” stand-up special and has multiple projects in development, including two studio features and TV projects at HBO and Amazon.
Amy is Nigerian, hails from North Texas, graduated from Stanford University and UCLA, and has lived both in the US (New York, the Bay Area) and abroad (France, Morocco). She enjoys travel, baking cookies and the occasional, well-timed “that’s what she said.”
