On Saturday 30th, March 2019, seven entrepreneurs from the film strand of The Nigeria Creative Enterprise Support Programme (NICE) received various prizes: Patrick Dante Oke, Shina Ajulo, Jubilian Ngaruwa, Samuel Obafemi and Faith Buraimoh won £2000 each to develop their business ideas. George Nwachukwu and Chukwuebuka Nzeji won £1000 each; while Folakemi Philips, a filmmaker, won the people’s vote and will be traveling to the UK to expand her network.

The entrepreneurs pitched their business ideas before a panel of seasoned professionals in the industries who selected the best five entrepreneurs from each category on Saturday.

“It’s been an intense three months,” Country director of the British Council, Lucy Pearson, who was part of the panel said. “They’ve gone through training, mentoring, internships and business skill incubation for these entrepreneurs. The creativity and originality of the ideas in Nigeria are great. There is potential in Nigeria and we are happy about being able to unlock the potential,” Pearson said.
